As the Valley’s premier leadership organization, Valley Leadership mobilizes, leverages and empowers leaders to address the most pressing issues Arizona faces. The organization’s can-do attitude dates back 40 years, to when a group of Valley visionaries recognized the need to identify and cultivate the next generation of local leaders. They imagined an annual succession of change- makers dedicated to the best possible future for Arizona. Nearly four decades later, that vision has produced some 3,000 alumni and an organization with a proven track record of success. Today, Valley Leadership continues to make deep impact by challenging conventional thinking, highlighting diverse perspectives, and fostering opportunities to improve our community’s future. Valley Leadership continually looks to its rich history, as well, to inspire and move the organization toward Arizona’s next big thing. As the Valley has grown and demographics have changed, the needs of the area have evolved. Phoenix requires an elevated level of sophistication to address the broad set of challenges it now faces. So Valley Leadership is becoming more intentional about utilizing its impressive alumni network, as well as other stakeholders and partners, to grapple with issues shaping our community today, and in the future. Great change happens best when leaders have a deep understanding of their community — what drives, sustains and advances it. Where does it want to go, and what must be done to get there? That’s why Valley Leadership’s new CEO, Dave Brown, has spent the better part of a year listening to what the community needs and preparing Valley Leadership for its next evolution. Through this transformation, Valley Leadership remains committed to continuing its legacy by providing the skills and connections for civic- minded citizens to advance their passions and pursuits while serving Arizona. To celebrate those who most embody the spirit of all that Valley Leadership wants to accomplish in service to the community, the group’s Man & Woman of the Year luncheon honors a pair of outstanding citizens for their long-term commitment and contribution to Arizona. One of the most prestigious awards given in the Valley, it speaks to the recipients’ vision and innovation as well as the almost immeasurable impact exceptionally dedicated individuals are able to make. Neil Giuliano and Sharon Harper epitomize what Valley Leadership envisions for its alumni and for itself. Both have committed themselves to service in their community and to a better future for the people of this state. But what if we all pledge to share this commitment in the belief that transformation together starts today? Valley Leadership challenges every person attending this luncheon to step up and identify what needs solving and what they are able and willing to do. It will be hard — all leadership is — but by working collaboratively, we can improve Arizona. Valley Leadership is taking the lead in gathering thoughtful people to solve the most pressing issues in the state. Through its thought leadership, partnerships, alumni and people like Neil Giuliano and Sharon Harper, Valley Leadership is mobilizing a strong alliance of leaders working to build a stronger Arizona.
