Founded in 2008 by Sister Adele O›Sullivan, CSJ, MD, we offer a continuum of care that is one-of-a-kind in the state and one of the only recognized models of its type in the nation. In October 2012, CTC launched Arizona›s first and only Medical Respite Center, a 50-bed medical shelter facility for ill and injured men and women experiencing homelessness, with housing provided to 78% of patients completing their medical plan. Our programs address the fear, anxiety, depression, disability, pain and limitations, often accompanying a cancer diagnosis, through our educational and social engagement programs, healthy lifestyle and stress management classes and emotional support groups. We serve all cancer patients and their caregivers: any age, any stage, any cancer. Our programs and services are designed to lessen their burden by providing financial assistance, promoting education and healthy lifestyles, and increase awareness of the issues faced by those dealing with childhood cancer. Our goal is to provide families with the essentials they need to get through this difficult time, and to make sure they realize they are not alone in their journey. We work closely with pediatric oncology teams at facilities throughout Arizona to reach as many families in need as possible. Duet pairs caring volunteers with homebound adults, referred to as ‘neighbors,’ who can no longer drive yet wish to remain living in their own homes. Free-of-charge volunteer services include transportation to the grocery store and medical appointments, friendly visits and phone calls, paperwork assistance, and more. Being a family caregiver or raising a grandchild can take a toll. Duet helps by providing support groups, respite, workshops, retreats, personalized guidance and accurate referral information.
