Sounds like an oxymoron, right? Who wants to be welcomed to doing their taxes? Well, I do, because here in Arizona, our state’s eligible tax credit programs mean that Arizona residents can opt in to giving to more than 900 qualified nonprofits, 45 foster care charities, 91 school tuition organizations and over 2,200 public schools DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR. It is my hope that you and your families will use this special issue to consider the qualified organizations and schools that have partnered with Frontdoors Media for the 2019-2020 tax season. Please take a copy and mark it up to bring to your next appointment with your tax adviser. It is our intention to see tax credit giving increase across the five categories we have chosen to highlight this year … it’s a win-win for everyone. A WIN-WIN Tax Credit Contributions Continue to Benefit Nonprofits and Arizona Residents By Tom Evans Tax Credit Giving Guide Taxes are rarely a win-win situation, but in Arizona, tax credit contributions are increasingly aiding both nonprofits and taxpayers as well. The State of Arizona offers an opportunity to receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on your state income taxes when you donate to qualified organizations in five categories: • Arizona Qualifying Charitable Organizations , which provide basic needs to qualifying low-income families and individuals, the chronically ill and disabled. Limits are $400 for individuals and $800 for married couples. • Qualifying Foster Care Organizations , with limits of $500 for individuals and $1,000 for married couples. • Public School Tax Credit Organizations , with limits of $200 and $400. • Private School Tuition Organizations , for which limits increased this year to $569 for individuals and $1,138 for couples. Contributions can be made directly or by shareholder when paid by an S-Corporation. • Certified School Tuition Organizations (also known as the “Switcher” Individual Tax Credit, these organizations may receive your contribution if you’ve already maxed out the Private School Tuition Organization credit first) — for which limits increased to $566 individually and $1,131 for married couples. Contributions can be made directly or by shareholder when paid by an S-Corporation. Additionally, corporations can qualify for two types of credits for contributions made to Certified School Tuition Organizations, but must apply for approval for part of a statewide capped TAX CREDIT GIVING GUIDE | FRONTDOORS MEDIA 7
