I don’t only want to be a great artist; my goal is to be a great person because that spirit or energy is translated to each piece. An artist has to do what is necessary for him or her to be strong and sensitive and meaningful.” Talent is only the beginning for Lowry — hard work and diligence are also required. She swims for an hour every day in the dark to help find her balance and strengthen her discipline. She also reads veraciously and meditates. Lowry is always learning, so she can be both educated and interesting. She honors what comes her way and doesn’t take things for granted. “I am not interested in knowing what I am going to create. I am interested in creating something I never would have thought of. That takes risk,” Lowry said. “It sounds easy but it isn’t, because you’re always pushing forward.
