So was Carraro Grotto. Alessio was on the job as road superintendent in Yarnell when he came across a granite hill not unlike the one at Carraro Heights. In the rock outcroppings, he saw animals and created a “rock zoo.” He resided there happily, in a house he built himself, until his death in 1964. Carraro’s dream of a famous and much-loved Castle may not have come to fruition in his lifetime.
