And we aren’t alone. Despite a worldwide event unprecedented in our generation — the COVID pandemic — Americans gave more than $471 billion in 2020, an increase from 2019. Those who had more gave more: 86 percent of households with a $200,000 annual income and above maintained or increased their charitable giving, according to the National Philanthropic Trust.
