OPEN DOORS CONTINUED With thanks to all of these organizations for working on behalf of the youngest members of our community, Andrea @AndreaTEvans Andrea Evans PUBLISHER KIDS IN FOCUS This unique program was founded in 2012 by photographer Karen Shell after 26 years of volunteering with kids in need at organizations such as The Salvation Army, Florence Crittendon and UMOM. Kids in Focus utilizes photography lessons as a means to help kids who have experienced trauma. The program works to help them build confidence and, in time, give them a new lens on life. Kids in Focus offers mentoring from professional photographers for children ages 10 to 14 who come from backgrounds of poverty, homelessness, neglect and/or abuse. Together the kids and their cameras, with the guidance of their mentors, take a journey of creativity that culminates in a public photography exhibit and a hardbound book filled with their work.
