Not because the recently named CEO of St. Vincent de Paul Phoenix is too busy to pick up a serving spoon. Rather, Clancy sees service as a gift that she wants others in the community to experience, so she offers volunteers first dibs on those opportunities. Yet, when I asked for a chance to experience St. Vincent de Paul by serving alongside her, Clancy kindly said yes. A poised, intelligent, empathetic leader, she doesn’t like the spotlight to shine on her. However, Clancy gamely shared her time with me, told me about her background and inspirations, and illuminated the role philanthropy can have in all of our lives. With her unique ability to see the big picture and land on the exact words to convey the power of giving, Clancy is an inspiration. I can’t think of a more fitting individual to grace the cover of this Holiday Issue that we are producing in partnership with BHHS Legacy Foundation. “Shannon Clancy has a deep commitment to reaching out to and lifting up the most vulnerable,” said BHHS Legacy Foundation president & CEO Gerald Wissink. “She is poised to continue the impactful work of her predecessor, Steve Zabilski.
