Colleen Jennings-Roggensack has been a key fixture for 42 years in the performing arts at a state, national and global level. As Arizona State University’s Vice President for Cultural Affairs and executive director of ASU Gammage, she takes artistic, fiscal and administrative responsibility for ASU’s Gammage, Kerr and 365 Community Union, Sun Devil Stadium and Wells Fargo Arena. Under her leadership, ASU’s mission of “Connecting Communities” reaches 35,000 schoolchildren and 600,000 community members annually from programs for the military to helping incarcerated women. ASU Gammage’s reach spreads to Broadway with the HS Musical Theatre Awards. Nominated by President Bill Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the NEA’s National Council on the Arts, Colleen is a Fiesta Bowl Life Director, former board member and Chair of Tempe Tourism, served as Super Bowl XXX Vice Chair Special Events and former board member of Childsplay. She is a member of Phoenix Rotary 100. Colleen so values young people, arts and culture and the economic growth of our community, her work has been lauded by the Greater Phoenix Chamber with the 2017 Impact Business of the Year award and The Arizona Republic named her one of the individuals that made the greatest impact in the era as part of its 100th-anniversary celebration. Other awards include the 2019 ASU West Pioneer Award for contributions to the African-American community, National Society of Arts and Letters’ Medallion of Merit, Valle del Sol’s Mom of the Year, Positively Powerful Woman Award, Governor’s Arts Award and a 2012 “Trendsetter.” In addition to stints at New Hampshire’s Dartmouth College and Colorado State University, Colleen served as the director of performing arts and professional development at the Western States Arts Federation. Colleen serves as a board member on The Broadway League Board of Governors and has chaired several committees and conferences. She received the Touring Broadway Award. A passionate, ardent champion for the arts, Colleen’s efforts to support and improve the local and national arts scene have made an immeasurable impact on all who are a part of it. A former dancer and choreographer, Colleen is married to Dr. Kurt Roggensack, a volcanologist at Arizona State University, and their daughter, Kelsey, is a graduate of Williams College, All-American swimmer and Fulbright Scholar, recently earned her master ʼ s at Harvard.
